From a dev Q&A "First, let's talk about instances, there is only 10% of the world being instanced, so it's not like GuildWars (where only cities are persistent) nor WoW where there is tons of instances (But the instanced zones in Aion work like those in WoW). I like Aion concept as far as I ve seen and same goes for the videos that been released from korean closed beta 1&2. But there are many questions. Aion seems to be build based on WoW that could have the positive parts like better pve and dungeons/dungeon bosses than l2 and not so hardcore grind as they already said in their conferences.
But will it have the political depth and the open pvp system l2 provides?
NCsoft with l2 created , propably unintentionally, a pvp world when everything from alliances and enemies , politics , even forum fights and propaganda would play a role, major sometimes. That had as a result propably the best open pvp mmo, atleast so far.
But still the result is after 4 years from the 10 NA/Eu servers only one , hardly 2 if you consider Bartz with the 27 heroes for Enmity, challenging.
So NC propably realized that a wow alike game would pay off more at the end , if at the same time they introduce a decent (atleast) pvp system they would draw off many l2 players aswell. For the moment the best graphics from any upcoming mmo, the flying itself, and the fights on the air making enough hype from their own.
Aion will propably have an exciting start but needs to have either WoW pve depth, i would guess NC is not capable of adjusting it to their games, or l2 open pvp/ political depth. A combination would be ideal but illusional the same time for us to expect.

Before I answer to your questions: I wasnt in the beta yet, but from reading and videos I can give you stable answers based on serious beta testers and devs.

Will they like the pvp system better?

Well, its Faction vs Faction (vs a 3rd NPC faction; which is actually intelligent and you cant oversee their actions). You've to make the right attack combos (not F1 F1 F1 F2 etc) to do insane attacks that require abit of skill atleast.

No safe zones, except of towns. 'The Abyss', which will be the highest lvl area is a free for all PvP area, you also get the best rewards there.

Air and ground battles are possible, and also sieges where the 3rd faction plays a big role ... they can chose which side they join or even go and take the castle themselves.

Will they like the grind more?

WoW (1-70) = 2 weeks up to 1 month based on your knowlegde how and what quests to do.

L2 (1-75; lets not talk about 76-80/85 lol) = 4 weeks up to 6/7 month based on account sharing or botting 24/7

Aion (1-40) = 1 month ~ ... you can lvl it without stupid grinding mobs - just with quests which also have super rewards.

There will be siegeble zones of course and raid bosses for which you can fight, too. Like in the above mentioned 3rd faction you cant see the outcome of such mass events.

You can get your gear throught crafting or PvP ... for crafting you need to level your job, and you also can craft alot of other things which are helpful.

There will be also PvP titles or w/e (the look of your wings changes to badass ones when you are good at pvp) maybe some pvp score.

The Abyss will be tested in the 3rd and last CB this month, so not much known about pvp rewards.

What chanllenges ?

to get max lv ? andswer = bot
to get top gear? andswer = ebay

and if you haven't done siege/epic rb/and mass pvp your a lil late since l2 has been out for years 0_o

Like most ppl that play since c2, we have done all the shit we could have done in l2 and done it 10x over.

Aion looks awsome

-Normal lving curve
-Prolly no need to triple box buffers to get exp

-cool race's

Aion has the potential to give alot of fun:)
