First thing is Vanguard. You learn the skill at 43 (no spellbook) and it is classified as a transformation (although you dont actually transform).

Vanguard gives DAs (and SKs) Dual Weapon Masteries equivalent to the ones gladiators/bladedancers get at the same level (ie 52 DA in Vanguard gets lvl 15 DWM (http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/9692/dualsh9.jpg) same as a 52 BD/Gladi). You also retain all passives from the DA class. This basically means a DA has similar stats as a gladi (http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9529/dagladin6.jpg) when in vanguard.

When in vanguard you also gain two skills Double Strike (http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/2857/doublesyo1.jpg) which is a melee skill similar to Gladi Double Sonic Slash and is roughly same power rating as a DSS for a gladi one skillset below you. Skill has a reuse of about 10 seconds with haste2/zerk1
Second skill is Blade Hurricane (http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/1700/hurrihj6.jpg) a melee aoe attack, shown to have the same power rating as Double Strike but actually deals about 60% the damage Double Strike does.Reuse is about 40 seconds.
Beyond these, you also get Hate - Hate Aura - Summon Dark Panther - Reflect Damage and Horror. While these skills seem inherited from DA they are actually independent. They auto level as you level (this applies to DS/BH too) but they are still available even if you havent learned the skill as a DA.

When in vanguard you can summon and use the panther BUT you cant go into vanguard if you already have the panther out, you need to unsummon it and resummon once you are in vanguard.

Vanguard has a timer, the buff says "5 hours" but to be honest I havent seen it decrease at all. Also Vanguard can be dispelled and reused pretty much instantly (no timer on "transformation" skill reuse).

2nd thing is a moderate boost to the panther's stats. It seems the panther gets a 10% pattack boost and 20% HP boost (http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/8218/pantherxc1.jpg) (assuming l2calc is accurate)

Another thing to mention, learning shield mastery lvl 3 and above gives you a nice pdef boost (http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/8232/sm3ra6.jpg)

That's quite a buff for the tanks who want to solo. I just hope it doesn't get somewhat ridiculous and make them as powerful as a Gladi in terms of close combat damage but being tons more defensive, not to mention the panther is in combination with it as well.

I would still love this form as a Prophet. :D

Well, considering (it sounds like) we loose all our other tankey skills (shield stun, hamstring, our root, our UD...etc etc) it sounds like a purely PVE tool...which is fine by me. Anything to make a tank more useful in a party game where tanks really aren't needed is fine by me.

no it aint, i got a +7 FB with focus and the only duels that will outdamage that is the S80 since they give more critical and a bit more patk. even the tanks with +3 FB w/ focus are better off cause the S grade duels dont do shit for damage and all the A grade duels only give 8% attack speed. the reuse also takes too long i may as well bow sum1 and hope for crits.

a friend with +4 S duals 150 fire says vanguard is about 25% more xp/hour over his tank setup (+5 FB Foc 150 fire) but yeah, dunno havent tested it myself

One major problem with tribunal is my lvl 80 panther is only lvl 76 in tribunal form.
