Something tells me that before you raise your gun you'd have a knife in your throat.

depends on the distance, practical tests show that you need to be about 7-10 meters away from an attacker with a knife if you want to successfully use a gun (less if you're already prepared to shoot, or if the attacker with the knife isn't already in attack stance) - throwing doesn't help because it's rather easy to deflect or evade a thrown knife

Am I the only one that realized it is pretty fucked up that you even have knives lying around for your kids to even come close to them?

"3 days suspended he was lucky not to get expelled."

Actually your are lucky YOU did not get arrested for endangering your child for keeping a knife within reach to where your kid could grab it.

HAHAHAHA your so funny.

My kid is 11 yrs old.... not like he is 5, I live in Alaska where most kids know how to shoot a gun before their 7th birthday. My son owns his own rifle for god sake!

But the knife he took to school was not out in the open laying around.... it was in my bedroom in a drawer with the rest of my collection.

And if I can trust my child to use skinning knives why would I worry about him handling a stilletto?

He's a straight A student, ignorance can be overcome with knowledge. He made a judgement error, he won't do it again, he learned from the error. He is not a stupid child that doesn't learn from his mistakes.

Guns and knives are just tools, just like a hammer or a screwdriver.... they have their uses. He was taught how to use them and shows respect for what they can do.

When he took the knife to school he only took it to show it off, not to threaten or use it.... he thought his schoolmates would find it kewl. Unfortunately he didn't ask to take it, which would not have been allowed, he got into my room and took it that morning after I left for work.

SO you are less ignorant of the issue at hand and can keep your opionion (because that is all they are) to yourself. kkthx

Because skinning knives dont have critical bleed like a stiletto does!

Just because she can open and close a knife quickly, doesn't mean she's actually proficent w/ it in a combat situation. ;)
