In a conference (phone meeting) today (3rd), NCSoft revealed information regarding their plans for the coming years.
When asked about their 2006 lineup, NCSoft CFO Lee JaeHo mentioned that NCSoft "recently put together a core team of developpers that will be working on Lineage3 for the next 3 years", confirming the development of Lineage3.
Lee talked of plans to add 6-7 more games to their PlayNC lineup, and also a plan to boost membership in the currently disappointing Korean figures for Guildwars. Internationally, Auto Assault will enter billing stages in the 2nd quarter. Tabula Rasa, developed by Richard Garriott, will follow towards the end of the year.
Their MMORPG project "Iron" which was planned to be released through G-Star has been revised, and will be revealed at E3 in 2006 instead. Presumably this is to avoid overlap between GStar's "PlayNC" marketing and the marketing of "Iron".
Regarding their decreasing playerbase in China and Taiwan, Lee admitted that "subscriptions have been in decline since last spring" and explained that "in the process of reducing illegal gamers, profits from that marketbase took a significant hit". He hopes that the release of Chronicle 4 will help bring a turnaround in China and Taiwan.
CEO KimTackjin concluded with NCSoft's plans to continue to bridge national boundaries and to redefine the limitations of the MMORPG genre. By expanding in choices available through the publisher, he expressed hope for a stronger position in the international market.
