The day before Chronicle 5 was launched, NCSoft held a press conference to communicate the the content being updated for the new chronicle.

---------------------------------------------------------------<3

Chronicle 5 Concepts

Chronicle 5 was planned with five main concepts in mind.

Support for Soloers
Solo hunting areas will drop Instant Items. These work much like power-ups in arcade games: they will immediately recharge the player's HP and MP as soon as they are acquired, reducing downtime.
9 new hunting areas have also been added for players at levels 20 to 60.
Clan Activity Encouraged
To develop the strength of human communication in the game, the clan system is getting a large makeover.
Clan Academy
Clans can found academies that help new users level to 40 to increase their clan's reputation.
Clan Ranks
Initially clans simply had a clan leader and its members. This will be further segmented to allow clans to organize themselves into ranks. The ranks go up to Marquis in C5. In the future they will also add Lord/Lady and King/Queen.
Clan Items
Clans can purchase clan items using Clan Reputation points.
In order to equip them, the player must have contributed a certain number of points and at a certain rank within the clan.
Clan Skills
Clan skills are implemented in a tree system. When the clan leader learns it, it gets applied to all members of the clan depending on their rank.
Class Balance
PVP Balance
The so-called RPS system will eliminate a dominating PVP class. Any strong class will be able to be countered with its enemy class.
Hero Skills
In response to concerns that Hero rewards weren't reflecting the difficulty in achieving the status, new hero skills have been added.
The Grand Olympiad has also been reworked to provide fairer competition.
Skills Revamped
New skills have been added for players around level 60 to give them greater motivation to continue in the game.
These new skills will also play a main part in balancing pvp.
Completion of the Continent
The Dwarven and Orc lands will be connected to the rest of the territories through the addition of Schuttgart. It is now possible to walk pretty much anywhere in this game.
Schuttgart will present monsters of different difficulties that get gradually harder further away from the newbie areas.
Schuttgart added
Schuttgart Castle and Schuttgart Village, as well as 9 new hunting areas added.
High Level Dungeons
Monastery of Silence and Shrine of the Heretics are added in the Rune region and will feature lvl80-ish mobs.
New Technologies Implemented
Support for Dual-core processors
The clients now support dual-core CPUs. Those that take advantage of this feature will see a 30% increase in speed.
Vertex Shader
Vertex Shader applied to graphic engine
Other New Developments
New weapons, armor and accessories. Of these, armor are clan items.
Additions to Fishing
Fishing Competition will be held as ingame events. 'Night Fishing' is a higher level fishing concept.
Raid Boss
Frintessa added. Frintessa is designed to be fought using sound as a strategy.
Interface Tweaks
Party matching system has been reworked so that leaders of parties can actively search out party members.
Also, raid parties can be formed to prevent ninja looting. Items dropped from raids can only be picked up by members within the raid party for a period of time.
Cursed Weapon
The demonic sword Zariche is a one-handed sword that equips automatically when acquired. More cursed weapons will be added in the future.
Player using the Zariche will not be able to join parties, and gets put in an abnormal chaotic state, where s/he will not drop items or lose XP upon death.

those duals, when they are made, will be the sexiest weapon in the game.

and the new mage sword looks friggen awesome as well. big ups to the design team. it looks like their actually trying to make some origional stuff at last

9 new hunting areas have also been added for players at levels 20 to 60.

Unlimited MP for mages. Practically no help at all to melee. Another poor solution to the endless problem of melee vs range. This does not increase the speed of the melee XP'ing at all, and therefore does not help. Just triple melee damage vs mobs already... how long is it going to take them to figure out why melee is so pathetic?

Playforum only mentions MP and HP but other sites have said that the instant items will have buffing effects as well.
Too early to tell : /

Adding SMP support is very nice imo.

I especially like that ice circlet. I'm wondering if it's Raid-based like the other new circlets (except the Schuttgart castle circlet) seem to be. Maybe from that Snow Queen lady or whatever creature it's named after.
