I don't know if you guys were looking foward to this movie. But it's the Spielberg flick with Tom Cruise. I was expecting a lot more but I guess if you don't expect too much it's a decent movie.

When you watch the trailer for this movie you can't wait to see it because you want to know what's up. You want things explained and things to make sense... well not much is explained shit just happens. You're wondering why these alien that have been "planning this for millions of years" are so dumb? Anyone like it?

Mr and Mrs. Smith was entertaining but i don't know if it qualifies as a "good" movie. People are looking forward to Fantastic Four but really Batman Begins is probably the best movie of the summer. Now i just got way off topic but overall very good movie just too high of expectations i suppose. Definitely top 5 of 2005. Well I can't say that but most likely it will be imo.

The movie isn't just about an alien invasion, thats just a backdrop. The movie is really about how otherwise ordinary people are dealing with it -- more specifically one familey. I thought the movie did a very good job doing this. I guess it could go the route of pseudo-science and 'try' and explain how, where, when, and why, but i'm glad it didn't because then it'd just be another Independence day.

The person who said they've been planning this for 1 million years was bat shit crazy Ogilvy.

I've just seen it , its more of a suspense thriller then more of a story, its really tense tho , with the booming effects and loud sounds , my brain was gonna explode.

Also , its really nice to see how the effects of the disaster relate to the effect to the world. so , very susprising parts.

I liked this film , and really 1 of those movies that you should get out to see.

Yeah Spielberg = Good effects, but sadly this movie is full of potholes.. almost like playing l2 and falling into those secret places and have to petition a GM if you dont have a SoE...

movie kicked ass. the special effects are the best i've ever seen in a movie.
stays pretty true to the book also, but set in modern times.

but sadly this movie is full of potholes..

my gf saw it tonight, i was working. She said it was okay... Heard the end was a bummer... A few of my friends didn't like the movie either...

I definately want to go see Batman begins... i don't think I've seen a bad batman movie tbh (saw the other ones in theater as well, being 17 now, I was young).

Heard Mr. and Mrs. Smith was pretty good, sort of want to see that as well, Batman comes first though.... And wtf, the batman series (3 movies I think) is at walmart for 20 bucks. GO BUY GO BUY.

My friends and I compared it to Independence Day + Dawn of the Dead. Sort of an apocalypse (especially the train scene) + cheesy aliens that did shit for no apparent reason. You'd also think with the technology the aliens had that the ending wouldn't be as simple as "Oh....thats what kills them."

BTW, did anyone understand the point of the red root things?

WoTW had a real half life 2 look to it, fucked up buildings and sleek silver high tech shit. I liked it for overall effects.

How can anyone say this movie was good?? Ok, good special effects, AND THAT'S WHERE IT ENDS.
NOTE SPOILERS AHEAD. ALTHOUGH THE MOVIE SUCKED.












Whoever, said it was focusing on how one family dealt with it all, it did a pretty poor job at that. No one in their right mind would in anyway act like Robby, the "Hard Guy" trying to take on the aliens alone. If anyone had a daughter like her, they would have killed her a long time ago. "Dad where are we going? Dad I need to use the bathroom. I don't want you too look (WHAT THE F*CK WAS WRONG WITH HER? THE WORLD'S BEING ANNIHILATED AND YOUR WORRIED ABOUT YOUR FATHER WATCHING YOU PISS!?). Dad I'm scared. Dad what's going on (YOU WOULD THINK BY ALL THE EXPLOSIONS, DEAD BODIES, AND EVERYONE SCREAMING AND RUNING THAT SOMETHING BAD WAS HAPPENING). Can we stop and pick up those people (yea lets pick up all 400 of them standing outside of the car). Dad and robby don't fight. Dad I'm scared x 15. AHHHHHHHHHH. AHHHHHHH."

Thats all she did the ENTIRE MOVIE. I could understand once in a while, but every 3 minutes!? Then we go back to robby who charges the aliens....with the army. Of course, if their missles didn't work, me running into them with my bare hands should definitly kill them. But then, to top it all FCKING OFF, in that HUGE EXPLOSION (and when I say huge I mean tanks, jeeps, people, guns, EVERYTHING exploding), he someone manages to survive, and WAIT, get to Boston, on foot, BEFORE THEM!? O and let's just exclude the fact that they made it from New York to boston in about 3 days, including sleeping, hiding, and dodging the aliens, as well as constantly arguing and annoying each other the entire trip. BUT HERE'S THE KILLER!!!! All the guns in the world couldn't stop them, BUT BACTERIA CAN STOP THEM? BACTERIA!? The man said their machines had been placed on our planet before life? (OVER 4.5 BILLION YEARS), and these a$$holes couldn't think of immuning themselves to bacteria? (Which, by the way, is expected to be one of the first organisms on our planet.)

And just to reiterate, Robby, the hard guy who goes in with the army, gets blown up with the rest of them, apparently survives this explosion, and actually manages to get to Boston before his Father and sister. The explanation for why they died was terrible, the storyline was terrible, no family would act that way, the entire movie, besides special effects, was terrible.
