I've always liked the world and setting that Mario takes place in but I always found the Sonic games more fun. For a while Mario was kicking ass with Mario RPG, Mario 64 and the Mario cart games but then Sonic Adventure came out and those games are just too fun

One of the best games was Phantasy Star for the Sega master system, played that game soo much. Darn shame that my old SEGA 8-bit doesnt work anymore. Even played Phantasy Star online @ Dreamcast, altough the old games was way better then the DC realeases.
OMG the Phantasy Star releases @ the 16 bit console was so sweat. But back in the day I couldnt afford the 16-bit console, I was stuck with my 8-bit. So sadley I never bought a Sega Mega Drive

Didnt that console got out with some kind of add-on also? Liek a cd-rom thingy.
I just have to end this post with some Phantasy Star games to this cool machine ^^

I'm pretty much what you would call a Sega fanboy as well, hell I still play my DC almost daily and still play genesis and Sega CD, but mostly on my laptop while at work (Gens+ emulator FTW). But all my Sega CD games are games I own (my original Sega CD STILL works), not downloaded crap, but then again I was lucky to get into Sega CD at th end of its life when rental places were practically giving away the games. I got games that I could sell for $70+ on eBay that I paid like $5 for like 10 years ago. But I wouldn't consider the Dreamcast a financial flop at all, at least not in the first 2 years. In fact when the system came out it was the fastest selling console ever, until PS2 came about and took it and still hold the record to this day. But if anyone remembers the hype behind the PS2 its no surprise. I think the main downfall to the DC was the PS2 hype, it caused many developers to abandon the DC and start making games for PS2 instead, I even had many friends refuse to buy DC or DC games because they were saving up $$ for the astronomical price of the PS2. Like 90% of the greatest games for DC were made by Sega or in-house developers. The companies that make consoles make their money off of licensing, not the systems themselves. They actually lose money off system sales. So without developers buying up licenses Sega could not make money. The failure of the DC, in my mind, was the media and the hype surrounding the PS2 with its insane system specs, which later were found incorrect and the public was given specs of untextured, unlit, basically wireframe models so of course it sounded impressive. It truly brings a tear to my eye :dwf_cry:
R-Types >>> sonic + mario.
I still play old snes/nes/other 8/16 bit consoles games on my psp using emulators ;x

seeing how i sorta grew up in a later generation of gaming ( only 15) and as a child was not alowed to buy my own gaming system till i was 9 I never really played the "older" generation of gaming. But I did play everyting up from mario 64. the game up above was the frist sonic game i ever played and i still have to say it was not too bad ( thow its lost alot of the classic sonic to it).

Thats the part i agree with
I really hope Sony will fail with PS3 this time
I dont really care if thats going to slow down the mainstream penetrance in the world of videogames, but sony really deserves bankruptcy
after stealing ideas from nintendo for years, crazy console prices, promises about gfx that they can never ever deliver, last but not least the role they played in DC failure

I hope they succeed with making it so we can advance in tech, but I know that not too many people are going to buy the damn thing seeing how expensive it is.
But more on topic..
Mario Games>Sonic Games
In General..
Sonic>Mario

Sonic... as a character is much cooler than Mario. Hyper Sonic = z0gmmGSAGZ the first time you saw him.
Mario games provide a much more fulfilling experience in the long run though. I spent a lot more time on Super Mario World than I did on Sonic 2. The Sonic and Knuckles + Sonic 3 was pretty sweet... but still not quite Mario. I'm in the middle of the Sonic game for Nintendo DS, it's pretty good, it retains a solid challenge found in the older games (unlike the GBA sonic games).
My copy of New Super Mario brothers should be in today or tommorow though, and I have a feeling it will kick the Sonic game out of my DS for good.
