I think that the War in Iraq was justified already with taking Saddam out of power. The people living there will be better off now then they ever were under his rule. But this shit on the news now is just bashing Iraq and is unnecessary. I'm sorry that you were brainwashed by CNN.

the problem with Iraq and the insurgents is that these guys don't care if the average Iraqi has a better life if the government is stabilized and the country reconstructed. All they care about is getting rid of the evil Americans, their supporters who helped them "invade" Iraq and the "traitorous" Iraqis who work for or with the official government. What they want is getting rid of any trace of a modern "western" society and going back to their archaic dreamworld where men rule and women comply, where thieves get their hands cut off, where women who carry bastard childs get stoned to death because the sharia says so.

The problem with a video like that, however, is that it makes islamists and anti-americans all over the world hate America, its system and its friends even more

Exactly, if anything it just provokes more hate. HOWEVER, at the same time, we never found ANY proof of weapons of mass destruction, and at the same time, them fighting back is not wrong. IF someone came over here and just said, "We think your gonna attack, we are gonna invade your country." I dont think you would take to well to it either. Half these people probably aren't terrorist fighting this war, they are probably people just trying to keep their culture separated from the rest of the world's.

You can try to save your culture without bombing hundreds and thousands of innocent civilians into oblivion. But they rather become martyrs for a "good" cause :roll:

and about the reasons to war Saddam's Iraq - I know the excuses given by your government didn't work out or were flat out lies, but the result (of Saddam being removed) justifies the war IMO, just that Bush and the neocons would have had a lot more trouble explaining why Saddam needs to be removed RIGHT. NOW.

That's part of the problem, if he had said "right, we're gonna end Saddam's tyrrany because I believe in a better world" (which, btw, would have meant acknowledging that supporting Saddam for a long time and not taking him out in 1991 already was a big mistake) and if he had consulted with the UN and other countries, like his father did over ten years ago, I'm pretty certain things would have worked out better for everyone but the terrorists who now have another reason to fight and hate the US and other western countries
