Hi

Im as far away from a computerwiz as you can come, just letting you know that before we start.

Ok so I have a GeForce 6600v+ 512MB/DDR2 graphic card. Now im wondering how much better my l2 will run if I upgrade to one of the latest GeForce cards. I currently have 1 gig ram but upgrading to 2 gig. I have no problem xping or semi large scale pvp, and I have full details in town with minimum lag. But during sieges it starts going a little slow. If i put on lower details it goes smooth but I want higher details during sieges. So will a newer card help alot and if so which card is good to get?

ps. I don't have THAT much money to spare but i have around 900$ (although would be nice if not all of it went to a graphic card, I got to be able to pay for my accounts aswell :P )

with 2 gb ram you should be fine with a 6600 gt, but if u wanna get rid of some money get a 7900 gtx ( around 500 bucks)

7900 GT or x1900xt imo. about half the cost, about 3/4 the performance at high end.

well you'd definitely see an improvement with a newer card, but the dramatic improvement is gonna be with the memory. also, you might consider upgrading your hard drive. something in the flavor of SATA, 10k RPM :P

or like i did and 2x SATA's in raid0 :)

Ram will not help if 1, slower processor. 2, slow internet connection.

Ram will help with load times, but graphics and connection will be the main factors of having lag while many people are in an area and doing many things at once as a whole.

Well I have a 2mb connection and this is my processor/hard drive.

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 540 3.2GHz LGA s775 800MHz 1M Boxed Prescott

Hard Drive: Maxtor Dmax 10SATA 200GB/8MB

ps. I have no idea what all the numbers mean so I just copied from a paper I had.

He doesnt have a 6600GT, just a 6600 with DDR2.
I ll tell you, that upgrading your graphics card will help you a bit, but not that much as you expect.
If you dont wanna spend lots of money for a gfx card, go for a 7600GT (150-200$). It has the best performance/price ratio. It a bit faster than a 6800Ultra. Not bad eh?

My rig consists of this:
Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @ 2.8GHz
2 x 7800GTX in SLI
2 GB RAM
WD Raptors 740GD Raid 0

and my 2nd rig
Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @ 2.5GHz
2 x 7600GT in SLI
2GB RAM
WD 2000JD

Both rigs, play perfect @ PvP but when it comes to a siege. Full detail, uh, no. I have to disable Shadows and Ground Detail. Then its quite playable (20-30FPS)

Lineage is quite needy when it comes to Sieges :)
