I enjoy ATI myself but find that they dont always test there products with all different times of mobo's so you can run into some real bad problems with one. So if you dont know all the facts about ur computer the ATI card u want to gets its safer to go with nvidea.

I've used both brands and both are great for L2 game play. ATI graphics are more crisp yet I tend to run into more hardware related game crashes and bugs than I did with Nvidia.

ATI is great but you are less likely to run into compatability issues with Nvidia. I had to actually buy a new motherboard to use my ATI 9800 Pro card while Nvidia seems to work on almost every motherboard.

6600GT, get the 128 over the 256 version.
Both being 128 bit, by the time the 2nd bank of 128 is accessed, you already have a frame rate <10. The 128 is easily better bang for bucks.

Also, you could always do a cheap upgrade in a few months by buying a 2nd 6600GT and an SLI board/cpu. The ATi equivilent isn't even released in the mainstream yet, and most people in the business think it will fizzle; only the hardcore fans will delay buying 2 Nvidia's now for 2 ATi's in 6 months.

If you have cash to burn, you could always look at a 7800GTX, or maybe a 6800GT if you want to go up a notch from the 6600GT while keeping the cost reasonable.
