View Full Version : Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Q&A
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/theelderscrollsivoblivion/preview_6128768.html
Judging at the reaction from May's Electronic Entertainment Expo, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion isn't just one of the brightest gems in the Xbox 360's upcoming launch lineup, but it's also perhaps a perfect example of a next-generation role-playing game. Due out on the PC and Xbox 360 later this year, Oblivion looks to combine cutting-edge graphics with an immersive and believable world to explore. And since Oblivion is the fourth game in the long-running Elder Scrolls series, you can bet that there's a lot of history in it. We caught up with executive producer Todd Howard for the latest news about the game.
Baldur's Gate III will be 1000x better.

Don't you lie to me like that...

Lie about what? They ARE making another BG game. The only thing up in the air about it, is if BioWare will be making it. Atari owns all rights.

I'm hoping for Dragon Age (new Bioware RPG), and that Obsidian won't screw up NWN2 like KotOR2. Although Oblivion looks really sweet so far

Dont you dare compare Elder Scrolls to Baldur's Gate. BG2 was so far teh greatest game of all time to me. The only thing is the BG series that sucked was that platform relise on the PS2 forgot what it was called now.

Dark Alliance, but these were more the console versions of Diablo, in 3D with a new story borrowing BG's name. It didn't suck (especially coop mode) but it wasn't really an RPG, just a hack & slash item collection orgy with a story tied to the D&D RPGs. However BG (or Everquest: Champions of Norrath, which is from the same devs, same gameplay, different setting) is better than "generic name for a console 3D Diablo" ;)

I never liked Baldurs Gate...i wasn't really a fan of RPG's until i got morrowind. I played that game for hours and i normally can't play a game unless its online cuz i gotta be talking to someone.

Diablo is as much an RPG as L2 is. Okay, a little more... But it's still no real RPG like Baldur's Gate or Elder Scrolls ;)
Although I wont deny Diablo's popularity. I personally think the game sucked.
Go down a dungeon.... level up... go down further in the dungeon.... level up. I have never been a fan of "Hack and Slash" RPG games. I am more into Story based games.
So that is why you play Lineage II, right Tika?

Dont kid me about the Baldurs Gate III man. Oh how i love those games. My one problem with that though, is they better find a better way to play online with other people. Baldurs Gate 2, with other people, was rediculous. I think i got it to work once, and the guys char. was so hacked it wasnt even fun.
That's a problem with the Elder Scrolls' games, they are all offline. It feels like a MMOG with no one else online.

exactly why I didn't like morrowind that much when I tried it.
this new one definitely sparked my interest though, sweet graphics and promising gameplay :D
I'm looking forward to BG3 and D3 too though.

once there was a mod for morrowind where you could play online but it didnt last long and was VERY buggy.

Hopefully it will be better as the NPCs will have more personality.

Lineage II is the ultimate story game (like other MMOGs). It just isn't scripted.

Ultimate Story RPG is Xenosaga I and Xenosaga II... problem is sometimes too much story. Sometimes it feels like I am watching a moving and just allowed to play now and then. It is definatly for people who want a kick ass story and mainly just a story.
