Deauris, you need a video editing program like Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas. Search on torrents, emule or oDC and you'll find it.

Koto, u're brilliant, thnx a lot for this tutorial. I always got shitty results from experimenting with different bitrates and codecs. However, I found that it's not imperative to use a 1024x768 resolution in game.

Have you ever wanted to record video while playing your favourite game? Come join the Machinima revolution! Throw away the VCR, forget about using a DV cam, game recording has never been this easy! Fraps can capture audio and video up to 2560x1600 on dual-core CPUs (1152x864 single-core) at up to 100 frames per second!

So 1152x864 is good as well. Cheers!

Hi guys,
I have a probelm... When i start full version Fraps it turns off when i start them...
But when i start Demo version of Fraps it runs...

Friends can use Full Fraps... and i can`t :(

Can any1 help?

Same problem here.Since fraps worked fine before ,I've figured out that it is connected with the newest Xvid codec I've downloaded.

Any ideas how to solve it??

COMPLETELY REMOVE FRAPS! then reinstall it, make sure that every single exponent or part is removed or else it will close it, that should solve your problem

Ok I did everything you said in your guide. When I try and save it as the Two pass - second pass, I save it and it says "Are you sure you want to overwrite?" I click yes and it says "Cannot open file The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. I made sure and I am positive there are no other programs running the video file in the backround. Any ideas?

Hey whenever I load my videos into either Vegas or Adobe Premiere, they are just all black and don't play anything. This is after I do the First pass Second pass part.

ey >_<

Sometimes I record with pretty decent fps without no problems, but sometimes I get huuge drop in FPS and all the sounds start lag. Maybe HDD is too slow for this? Should I fraps to different HDD than where the L2 is located ?

I just upgraded my PC, so it should not be too slow for frapsing.. Also all the settings should be correct, since I tried everything on them..

If you dont allready know, x264 is the best lossles codec out there
for high quality and low filesize videos
In this tutorial you will learn how to encode your videos with x264 codec with Megui media encoder
with 3 automated passes,
everything you need is in here

The only problem I have with fraps is that it makes HUGE files while recording.
Like 1 min for 600mbs or something like that, is that normal? I mean I've seen some fights with like 5mins long, wonder if they had 3gb movies after frapsing, before converting, or maybe the computer especifications change anything?

Edit: I can't figure out how can I use that Divx thing @ the tutorial, also when i try to add my file it says 'Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID' help? =o

Fraps actually does encode the footage, which makes this almost lossles format flawlessly playable (if you ever tried to run a REALLY uncompressed video file you know what I mean ^^). You'll notice the encoding once you try to open a raw fraps file on a computer without fraps installed. Also, who ever said x264 was lossless is kinda wrong ^^

In fact - it's far away from being lossless; even at high bitrates you will lose some color-range, depending on the source. But it is indeed the best choice for final compression or archiving.

Geeeeze... what a smart ass post >_>
Sorry for that! ^_^

hey lerain :p
is there any way to convert xvid (or w/e) to fps1?

I've been looking for a way to do that long ago, unfortunately it's not possible as far as I know. BUT there is a workaround I found. It's kinda obvious and it doesn't work perfectly (depends on your source) but... you can simply start the video using VLC (doesn't work using windows media player for me) and then... well... Fraps it ^__^

Yeah - it's simple like that :P

I've experienced some issues Frapsing off of *.mp4 files encoded in x264, but as I said - it always depends on the source. It works for most gaming-videos tho.

Good luck! :)

Yo, i have a pbm about resolution of videos with fraps. I've 2 pc and they have max resolution at 1280x1024 and 1440x900 (or something like that); all video i make all sux (i mean can't read dmg etc) also if i fraps it with "half size" option. The only good vid i can create have 1024x768 and i rly don't like it...wht can i do?
