Other variations of the same answer exist, all depending on the forum/newsgroup quality and percentage of hackers or open source enthusiasts on the forum/newsgroup members list.
Yes, they are responsible for shitty replies.
In some severe cases, when trying to reply to this answer yourself, you may find out that the nickname you've been using to post on the forum, or that the alias you've been using to read and post on the newsgroup has been banned for any future use.

What the fuck? I'm an open source enthusiast. It's simply proven, open source proves a ton more stability than perpetual software ever has. You using Firefox, even that's open source.
The hypocrits these days :-/.
<3 ass-tin, though.

Open Source is a great educational tool, and has proven way more stable. And as Linus Torvalds says:
I think, fundamentally, open source does tend to be more stable software. It’s the right way to do things. I compare it to science vs. witchcraft. In science, the whole system builds on people looking at other people’s results and building on top of them. In witchcraft, somebody had a small secret and guarded it — but never allowed others to really understand it and build on it.
Traditional software is like witchcraft. In history, witchcraft just died out. The same will happen in software. When problems get serious enough, you can’t have one person or one company guarding their secrets. You have to have everybody share in knowledge.

I should invent an internet sarcasm detection tool or something.

But then it'd have to open source for it to actually be stable

Otherwise it would crash if it detected too much sarcasm.
