Game Guard could not conect to the update server

Hi guys for the past 9 hours i m getting an error saying that gameguard cant connect to the update server, i also cant acess ping or trace rt any of the L2 servers includding the web site, i ve tryed everything, removed all firewals, renewed my ip directed conected to the modem (instead of my 8 port router) noone of my computers can conect either directly or connected to the router, i also reisntalled Windows on one of them (gosh it realy needed lol) and the client.

I m guessing that one isp, on the way to the l2 servers got broken anyone has any idea if i m rigth, or if there is any other answer?

Im at work so I cant access L2 to do some walk through support... Lemme ask one thing though...

Do you get the error on the game menu where you can click Start, Check Files, etc? Lots of people have been having issues at that part of login, if thats the case deleting gameguard fixes the problem also clicking start before the menu has the chance to give the error gets you around it.

Checking the official site, all the servers seem to be up. Have you ran a spyware removal tool yet? GG might be picking up on something. Try that and deleting GG first.

I m in Portugal.
And i get the error in 2 ways, the first one is when i run lineage2.exe it should bring up the blue box with the message of the day the events the pictures and all that, it doesnt it just shows a blue box wtih check file and start, also the red update bar doesnt fill.
if i press start the game guard error discribed above remains on top of the log in fields wich doesnt even allow me to see what code error it is, then obviously the fact that i cant ping trace rt the servers or the website.. strangely enougth tough i can access ncsoft site, so i supposing they are on diferent isps.

i got the patch server work by complety whiping my p.c temp folders and systems folder...so i deleted my system folder...website not coming up tho...ill post more info...

I didn't have this problem yesterday. But I have it for the last 12 hours or so. Can't get to www.lineage2.com, can't get to www.plaync.com, can't connect to update server, and the most horrible is that I can't start the game T.T
Is there any cure for that?

when your screen gets to the part where the updater usually starts to run click the START button as soon as you can. Don't give the updater a chance to run b/c then you get the "cannot connect to the update server"

worked for me the time that I couldn't get past the updater not working

I tried to do that. But then I get "GameGuard update was cancelled" error when the game starts.

Go to System Folder inside the Lineage II folder and delete the Gamegaurd folder, Don't worry it get's replaced as soon as you Turn on the game. this should fix it.

Where do u live SimAnKain?I live in Israel and I have exact same problem from Thursday.And deleting gameguard didnt help.My account is not banned(verified).The problem is not in Gameguard itself - the problem is in imposibility to visit NCSOFT websites www.plaync.com and www.lineage2.com.Gameguard fails to start because it works by HTTP protocol.
Whole my internet works i can visit any website besides those two NCSOFT's ones.I scanned my computer with antiviruses,anti-spies including Highjack This and found nothing - my system is clean.I also did full format and reinstalled windows.If anyone has any idea what it can be and how to fix it plz post it.

I tried to do it with proxy and it didnt help.I still cannot open www.lineage2.com

Well not all proxies work. Try a few more, and if that doesn't help, try submitting a ticket to support (support.plaync.com was loading like crap for me, but I could access it with a little patience). This is the answer I got from them:

These error messages can be caused by a couple of different things. In order to eliminate some of the possible variables, you should try the steps outlined below.

First, locate your Lineage II directory. (By default, this installs to [LocalDisk]:\Program Files\Lineage II) In the 'system' folder, there is a subdirectory titled GameGuard. Delete the GameGuard folder, and re-launch LineageII.exe. Let it re-download these files, and then launch the game.

If this does not resolve the issue and the error messages persist, you should verify that you have all firewall or Internet security software disabled. If you are able to connect with your firewall software disabled, then you will need to add exceptions to your firewall rules for the following files: LineageII.exe, L2.exe, GameGuard.Des and GameMon.Des.

These files are by default located in the following directories:

C:\Program Files\Lineage II\LineageII.exe
C:\Program Files\Lineage II\system\GameGuard.des\l2.exe
C:\Program Files\Lineage II\system\GameGuard.des
C:\Program Files\Lineage II\system\GameGuard\GameMon.des

Also, please send us a little information about your network setup. We need to know exactly how you connect to the Internet. Do you use any routers, hubs, or switches? If so, what is the make and model? Who is your Internet provider and where are you physically located? Are you on a home, campus, business or military network? Please also let us know if you are using any firewall or Internet security applications such as Norton™, McAfee®, or ZoneAlarm®.

So make sure none of that stuff is causing the problem.

It was fixed itself today .I guess it was tempopary problem of internet itself somewhere in the world.Thank you all for help anyway.

The problem is sovled. The issue was that internet link London - New York got down. It was the main rout that my provider used to connect to the New World. For most providers it was not a problem cause they have alternative links. Using proxy helped. But now the link is up again so it doesn't really matters now.
