NCsoft today announced <em>LineageŽ II</em>, with more than 14 million customers worldwide, has reached 100,000 active players in North America and Europe.

I translate this as one of two things.

1. 5,000 players and 95,000 bots

2. 100,000 actual players and 2,500,000 active accounts.

I wonder how much they paid Richard Garriott to say all that. Im sure Richard Garriott knows what a piece of crap L2 is considering he created probably the BEST MMORPG of all time back when he made and controlled Ultima Online before EA ruined the game... old UO > all.

Lineage 2 is the most superb game in terms of story, beauty of design, game design, character design, motivation, freedom of pvp there is, best mmo by far.

why would they pay him anything since he is the producer of the game =P

I started playing in mid 2005. The quartery reports from that time say there were 64,000 subs to L2 in North America. Less before that. This year SO FAR they are reporting over 100k. Banning bots did not cause that growth.

He is the executive producer of NCSoft NA.

I'm not arguing that bots are not a problem, they are a massive problem but L2 is clearly growing.
