Well since christmas is coming around I was wondering what I should get. I'm thinking a new video card but here are my specs:
1.5g of RAM
RADEON X700 Series video card
Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz (2 CPUs)
Stock, sound wise
(just ask for any other info)
Also help on where I can get what you suggest is good =D, and im pretty computer illiterate so easy on the big words

Well, all depends on your cash limits, how much can you go. Get RAM to reach 2 GIG, then a graphics card. What HDD have you got?

80GB HDD, couldnt find the max speed
gonna be a 7200 rpm
id definatly go with more ram, u might wanna consider taking out ur existing ram, going with some pc-4000 and overclocking ur frontside bus and memory freqs from 200 to 250. pc-4000 ddr1 is kinda expensive but they were putting it on clearance at circuit city recnetly for 100 a gig.

I would upgrade the Ram like the others said, does your motherboard run in dual channel? If so, I would buy a pair of 1 gig sticks to run in it. As for the CPU and Motherboard, I would not worry about them untill u want to change it all at once
definitely video card first, then ram, then hdd.

Video card first in my opinion. I didn't really bother keeping up with Intel's P4 D's since they sucked so much, but if your mobo runs on DD2 and PCI Express upgrade if you want. If it's running on AGP and DDR you might want to just want to store the money and buy a new comptuer sometime soon.
On second thought, I think all the duo core D's were on the 775 socket.. which should make it PCI Express and DDR2? So ya, video card first. Unless you want a DX 10 card. The midrange card should come out earlier next year.

that loads of RAM, get a card imo.
and no point gettin a new harddrive unless yours is near cap.
if your running it at 50-60% or something you might aswel not worry about it.

A Video card will give you the biggest performance boost with your set-up. they are getting mighty cheap now too, shop around and try to grab a 512mb card and the best one you can afford. 1.5gig ram is okay but now it seems 2 gig is ideal for the new games and mmorg,s Ram helps alot in load times. Make sure you buy a matched pair in a set if buying ram so you can run it in dual channel mode. your cpu is still good for awhile yet I think. And onboard sound isnt the best, as it takes up cpu cycles and slows performance somewhat, Most people drop in a soundblaster card for better sound qaulity and a slight boost in speed. The ZS series is still a great sound card and the Xfi is the cream.
This is the place I buy all my stuff, read the messages below every product for good info and links/compatability/etc

point of a harddrive swap is to increase interface speed, not HDD capacity.
something like doubled raptors in raid0 will vastly increase performance. i have 2 gigs of memory, and still this game writes almost a gig to HDD.
