That article sounds about right. It is only a matter of time.

yes but nothing can replace oil to the extent that we use it
it takes more energy (in oil) to produce a solar panel/windmill than that solar panel/windmill will ever put out in its lifetime

you're too gullable.
if you think about that doesn't make any sense at all.
considering a solar cell lasts a very long time. and is virtually maintainance free
that site does have one thing right though..
nuclear power is what we should be gearing up for.

The problem isnt that there arent any other ways of energy, its that the whole economy and society is based off of fossil fuels. It will be very hard to make the transition from oil to another energy just like that with so many ppl in the world using oil and so many things based off of the use of oil.
You just found this out? I read about this months ago.

I knew about that long time ago knowing that oil is not a replaceable resources once it's gone it's gone, that's why they invented hydrogen gas some countries are using it now but it's not really a big thing right now.

hoho well my bad...not everyone runs a daily bulletin :P
(o btw i knew this for a long time, i just thought i would post it)
o also wads it takes a shitload of solar panels to put out the energy of fossil fuels. Solar panels also take up alot of space if you are going to power a whole city with them. Also the article isnt about just running out of fuels, its about how were gonna have a big ass great depression when it happens.

Are you borderline retarded?
Anyway, yeah its said. The problem is that we as humans always wanted to make things more efficient, and since we discovered the usage of oil, and how much more efficient it is than previously-popular coal, things started to be invented or modified to be run on oil.
This wouldn't be a problem if we weren't have such a TREMENDOUS population J-Curve:

it's really funny to read you guys' view on the problem - but not "haha" funny...
on the other hand, I'm not surprised at all... not in your lifetime, yeah right

>.> <.< i cant die so yeah everything will happen in my lifetime
there's significant evidence to support the idea that many oil reserves are FAR bigger than we thought. guestimating here, but we've tapped something like 3% of the world's usable oil. i personally tend to believe this theory over the chicken little approach.
but i do aggree that we need to invest heavily in nuclear power. but unfortunately, due to idiots like jimmy carter, nuclear power is a long way behind where it should be in this country. nuclear power properly monitered and maintained, and in properly designed plants, is cleaner, cheaper, and available in much greater quanities than any other source of power we currently have.
btw, for any naysayers, dont bring up stupid examples like cherynobyl. what happened there, cannot possibly happen here due to the inherent design of our nuclear facilities. assuming absolutely everything does go wrong, the whole mess will be contained within the dome, and noone will be killed. perfect example is 3 mile island. everything did go wrong, and the meltdown was contained within the dome.
edit: and btw, i dont think the article was particularly serious. check the other articles on that site :P

I'm a big fan of nuclear power, but "we don't care, there's tons of oil not yet discovered" is wishful thinking by ppl who use way too much oil for stupid stuff (like huge SUVs for no reason) and try to justify it. You can'tmiraculously discover near infinite new oil sources just because the reserves we know will barely last for another 50 years...

I heard somewhere that there is a black hole in the center of the earth that connects to a near unlimited oil reserve in another part of the galaxy, all we need to do is reach via a drill type ship that was used in The Core. (or so I assume, I never actually saw The Core)

They just found a huge deposit of oil in Canada making it the second largest oil deposit in the world (only behind Saudi Arabia) according to this (http://www.macleans.ca/topstories/business/article.jsp?content=20050613_107308_107308) article.

I hope Canada uses this opportunity to increase their military might, then try to take over first the Middle East then the United States, and then Europe and Asia.
