A friend showed me this new Korean MMO that is in beta phases now. Was wondering if anyone has heard of it? The movies and screens look amazing. Hope the game play is good.

This game and SUN (http://www.webzengames.com/Game/Sun/default.asp) are supposed to be two games that rival Lineage2 in graphics. Not sure about gameplay though. Zera is in closed beta in Korea (have to have Korean SSN) and SUN should start soon.
They look cool, but Zera looked a bit slow in their gameplay video. SUN is supposed to be "console" style, which I am not sure what that means. But supposedly, it will play more fluidly than normal mmorpgs.
korean mmos look awesome, i wish more of em would hit the states
that zera game looks pretty good...any plans of it coming to NA?
yeah zera looks like it can take some of my time.
The only question is.... would the gameplay be as good as the imagery.

Didn't have much time to play but Kevin and I messed around with the character creation and took some noobi-area screenshots.
The character creation interface is breathtaking.

The combat is designed so that you're fighting (on average) 5 mobs your-level at once. All melee attacks are AoE so any mob that you're facing in your immediate area will take damage from your attacks.

You get new skills from runes that drop from mobs. To use the skill you have to add it to your skill circle which has 10 slots. Some slots in the skill circle are chained, so if you use them one after the other it adds either a damage or duration time bonus.
To use skills you have to generate rage by attacking/being attacked. (The circle on bottom left).. haven't figured out what you do with Mana just yet lol.. I guess just the wizards use it? I dunno. Haven't had a chance to play a wizzy.
So far I'm in lovvvve with this game. It's beautiful, the combat is interesting, the interface is flawless, and the skill chaining is a good idea altho i want to see more varieties to the bonuses.
I'm at work so I don't have access to all the screenshots I took ^^ I'll post some more later!

seriously, Korean MMOs will always be L2 for me, pretty graphics with lots of juvenile anime T&A, somewhat interesting in the first few days, but hardcore boredom replacing any content later and honestly they all look too similar so the graphics become boring just as fast... I know it's not fair but I'm not joining into the hype about any Asian MMO anymore until I know more about the game than that's looking god, has nekkid women and some fun combat for the first few levels - all the PR babble aside, I want to know how a game REALLY plays, and NOT from some fanboy of all Asian games and anime in general... all thanks to the "crimes" commited by L2's devs

no sorry, seems like I'm misunderstood - I didn't say YOU are the fanboy, what I meant was that since I played L2 I will take user reviews of MMOs (any, but L2 just made me look at Asian ones twice to even consider so I mentioned these here - not because they're bad, but because PR stuff and gameplay are two completely different shoes) with a grain of salt. Actually I'm looking forward to your view on the game because you can play it and judge it by more than just a few shiny screenshots and product description. The fighting system sure sounds interesting...
But I like to give you something back for "Mega the resident WoW fanboi": "You don't know me don't make blanket statements". But I seriously didn't want to piss on you or that game, even though I admit the post turned out to look a bit negative...

It's not all about graphics...Darkfall is not the best looking ever(it looks a lot like GW if you look at latest screenshots), but it has promising gameplay.
I am only prejudiced towards asian games coz of the grinds:P Darkfall doesn't have a grind but a skill level system etc, I don't feel like typing a big story about it, just read the FAQ/forum of darkfall if you're interested.

Both look really nice. I hope at least one of them has something more than cute graphic shell and empty inside..
As for Darkfall - I have hopes for it too, but I believe less and less that, it will ever get released.

I still can't figure out if there will be PvP or not. Nexon has a weird marketing scheme where they don't say anything about the game except how to work the interface. They want the testers to figure things out for themselves.
And these beta rounds are like, a week long each. Which isn't long enough for anyone to get a clear view of the whole game.
I think there will be instanced pvp or pvp-specific areas but no open pvp.. But then I never even stepped out of the noobi zone so I can't tell you for sure. ~.~
EDIT: Did some research and it looks like zera pvp will kind of work like WoW pvp. PvP areas and instanced scenario-PvP (like battlegrounds).. but not faction-based. Not sure if it's clan-based just yet. The whole thing is still in development and probably won't be tested til one of the later beta rounds.

2 questions:
1. My gf was born in Korea but raised here so she has the SS# but doesnt read korean. (speaks a bit) Is there anyway you can post instructions on how to sign up for the beta?
2. What are your computer specs? I'm wondering what kind of specs you need to make the game look like your screens.
