Christian here. Why? Why not? Other people believe there lifes stops here in after such a short time, we have hope for a much longer, everlasting life. That is just one of the reasons: hope (and belief). I'd probably look at life as pointless without it.

Is your religion the only true religion? Are all other religions wrong, and just followed by a bunch of crazy fuckers that believe in a false god?

Come on. I want to see you say it. Tell me that all other religions are wrong. Then follow it up with some proof. Prove to me that there is something other than oblivion after death.

PROTIP: I will laugh at you.

EDIT: Note: I'm not against you believing in whatever you believe in. I just find the idea of any religion laughable.

Pretty honest. Regards.

Dont be an intolerant asshole.
I share your belief - or rather nonbelief. However mocking others for it is stupid. Don't think in terms of right or wrong but in terms of human hapiness.

So: Even if someone believes in sth. really stupid like the flying spaghetti monster - if that makes him happy why not?

By laughing at others however you only disguise your own answer to the fundamental questions of humanity. Do you have an answer?

Except that Jews, Muslims & Hindus also believe in an afterlife. For jews & muslims it's the same kind of a heaven/hell split than what it is for christians. Hindus believe in a reincarnation.

Buddhists also have their own type of a reincarnation

Brought up as Catholic - didnt work out. Kinda Christian atm, kinda in a sense that I do believe Mr Jesus walked the Earth and was pro with the choices he made and those were some really fcked up choices to make (like dying for example). All in all, whatever u believe there seems to be one divine entity with multitude of names. Whatever u do, just dont worship pve, thats gay.

I am not intollerant. I am human, therefore allowed to laugh at people if I find what they do funny. Or are you saying I'm not allowed? Also:

EDIT: Note: I'm not against you believing in whatever you believe in. I just find the idea of any religion laughable.

Oh, and the FSM is stupid now is it? Fuck you. He's just as real as any other God, and if you practice what you preach, you wouldn't call it stupid. Or can I call Christianity stupid without fear of being called 'intollerant'? Aparently not.

Admittedly the FSM/Pastafarianism was only created by someone in opposition to Christian rights activists (or whatever they're called) trying to remove evloution from the educational corriculum and replace it with creatism. Or they wanted both taught. Or something. Either way, it made this guy mad and FSM was born. But it now has a relatively large following which could establish it as a legitimate religion....almost.

I digress.

Summary: I will laugh at what I want to. Believe in whatever you want to. Just don't force it on me.

Where is Tsgumi? I'm sure s/he'll post soon enough. S/he's fun.

Are you like 15 years old or just plain stupid?

Religion is believing into something without scientific proof. If he could provide you proof about afterlife, then his religion would cease to be a religion.

Yes he can't say for certainty that his religion is right and all other religions are wrong. However, you can't say either that all religions are wrong. Or you can but then that's your religion and you can be just as much wrong as any christian or muslim.

There is no scientific proof that eliminates the possibility of an entity like God. Yes there's scientific proof that things didn't go like it says in the Bible, but you gotta remember that the Bible, the Toora and the Quran were all written by man. So they all reflect the amount of comprehension of the world that people had about 2000 or more years ago.
Just because the message has been written wrong by humans for the past 2000 years doesn't mean that there isn't a God

Very well put. This is really and endless discussion between people who can't accept that some people wish (need) to believe in a higher being and people who can't accept that some people don't believe in such things.

I don't believe there's a God because to me it seems illogical. I also don't feel the need to believe in something who's existence has not been proven.

But yeah, flamebait topic in any case...

Religion is believing into something without scientific proof. If he could provide you proof about afterlife, then his religion would cease to be a religion.

And I find it funny that people put so much time and energy into something that cannot be scientifically proven. And why would his religion cease to be a religion if he could prove the afterlife? In particular, the afterlife that is dictated in the bible. If anything that would reaffirm his beliefs and cement his religion as truth - and I will be in terrible, terrible trouble.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Either that or you can't formulate your thoughts into words that convey your message in the way you want to.

Like I have said before, believe in whatever you want to. I don't care. I DO, however, find it funny. I live by science (even if I'm not very good at it) and I won't blame some unseen, omnipitent figure for my misfortunes, nor will I praise said figure for any great mokments in my life. I will have only myself to thank, and some other tangible entity to blame. Because I never get the blame. I never do anything wrong.

Should Evolution be taken out of education, and replaced with Creatism?

U really dont see any difference between belief and knowledge, an idea and a fact? Believing is wishing to know but knowing u will never know for sure.

Me saying that al religions is just stating an opinion. Not forming a new religion.

Definition of religion:

A set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

My opinion is that people are wrong. But people are allowed to be wrong. That's what is so cool about being human. We can fuck up. Like you did.

It's something that you believe in. Ok true it isn't exactly a religion itself, but you believing that all religions are wrong is on an equal level with a christian believing that his religion is right and all others are wrong.
Neither of you can provide proof that you're right

Should math be taken out of education and replaced with poker lessons?

Evolution is a scientific theory, creationism is a religious belief. They represent two totally different fields of study. So it depends on what you want your kids to study.

Of course, why should one replace the other? Teach them both.
I was taught both evolution and creationism in school. Evolution during biology classes, creationism during religion classes.

However, in the case of United States, there's this pesky little thing called The Constitution which prevents one religion being favored over others by the state. Hence making it unconstitutional for creationism being taught in public schools.

I find a lot of things funny. I find it funny that people still level characters manually in L2. I find it funny that people watch soap opera's all the time.
I find people that go on Dr. Phil funny.

The reason why his religion would cease to be a religion is that a fundamental part of a religion is the fact that it's believing into something without concrete evidence. If you provide concrete evidence of the religion being right, it ceases to be a religion and turns into a science.

Like I have said before, believe in whatever you want to. I don't care.

I like that attitude.

Be careful not to make "science" another religion. Science as well as any religion does not give a definite provable answer to mankinds questions, like where do we come from, where do we go, and most of all why do we even exist?

I am not intollerant. I am human, therefore allowed to laugh at people if I find what they do funny. Or are you saying I'm not allowed? Also:

Oh yes, you are. You are allowed to laugh at whatever you want, however you have to live with the consequence that other people won't take you serious.

Oh, and the FSM is stupid now is it? Fuck you. He's just as real as any other God, and if you practice what you preach, you wouldn't call it stupid. Or can I call Christianity stupid without fear of being called 'intollerant'? Aparently not.
Yes, it is, that is the whole point. And yes you can call any religion stupid, however you have to be careful not to hurt other people. People are always more important than beliefs.

So you do understand it. Fine.

Summary: I will laugh at what I want to. Believe in whatever you want to. Just don't force it on me.
That's fine, just keep in mind there are other people out there.

It's just such a huge flamebait :P . True. However: "Find out what makes people angry, and you know what is important to them."
