1337 5p34k was around along time before you emo gamers came into the internet scene when it had it's originins on old Warez hacker forums by the up and coming script kiddies who would try to out do the old school hackers and look all cool by mixing letters and the alphabet together to try and put themselves as somebody cool....rolmfao @ script kiddies.:of_happy:

I first started seeing l337 speak in my IRC scripting days in '95.... It seemed more prominent with the mIRC scripting types. Anyone remember the 7thSphere? lol OMG NUKES!!!!

It's just that one article. It makes it seem like there is an underground (yes, they even said "underground") cult, usingthis demonic language to get upto no good. I do know it's been around since the public got access to the internet (an exaggeration, but you get my point), but for an established news agency to go around claiming the shit they do...I mean fuck. How can you even think about taking that shit seriously.

However, there probably are some faggot little 12 yearolds or whatever that use it for privacy or whatever they do (oh how I miss the days of being 12. I spent mine outside and playing sports and shit though...), but still. It's as dangerous as learning to speak a foreign language.

If that report is anything to go by, that news agency probably thinks that learning (and speaking) a foreing language in the US should be made illegal. It's all a bit silly.
