I wonder what component of the hardware has the biggest impact on fps in sieges?
In other words how to raise my fps in sieges efficiently?
RAM, VGA, CPU, HDD?

cpu imo

imo u r teh wrong...the gpu is what does most of all the algorithms when it comes to video games and rendering...yes having a decent cpu will help it along but gpu is more of an impact.

GPU,RaM,CPU,HD in that order

for sieges it need calculations. The gpu only renders stuff. If a gfx singel handely calculated a sieges u would get under 1 fps. My pc runs with 40 fps with full details at 1280x1024 in sieges.

rite order is cpu,ram,HD/Gfx

e6600 2.4 ghz @ 3.7ghz
4gb pc 6400 ram running at 1200 mhz
geforce gts 8800 640 mb running at 660/2050
X-fi Fatal1ty FPS sound card
system raptor X 150gb
storage 2 x 250 g in raid 0

At lower resolutions the CPU will bottle neck the GPU, it's the other way around when you get to the higher resolutions.

I'd go GPU, CPU, RAM, HDD.

Of course, it would help greatly if you posted what your system uses at the moment.

If u have not so much money u'll have to first boost your cpu to get more fps on low resolutions and after that u can start thinking about better gpu. Gpu is rendering ok, but with low details and low resolution like 800*600 your gf5200 is comparable with gf8800.

Almost completely wrong. A good gpu does help yes. But for older games as in EQ2, Lineage2, and FFXI. It's all about the CPU. You browse EQ2 forums of people asking why they just dropped $400 a GPU when their computer still runs the game like shit, you will see that most people explain how since we didn't have the GPUs out that we have now, they put all their money into the decent P4s with HTT to render 3/4 the graphics.

So in sense, it's still the same way as it was then. Yes the 8800s own face, but I still rather get a damn good CPU and if I have the extra money then I would buy the nice GPU after.

psy I just figured since L2 only uses one core in a dual core system and most systems today are over 2.4g (2.2g for amd). I am trying to understand why dual core is better than say a P4 system for this game.

It's all about design and technology of the chips.

Did you ever try your hardware on a 22" TFT at 1680x1050 and saw what kind of FPS you get at siege?

around the same if u got 8800 cards

1360x768 is my 32" lcd tv top and it runs smooth

ived done 1600x1200 with FSAA A high details with 50-70 fps. Biggest factor is that the pc got power to use beside the one it uses. So no more lag siege but when u get tons of ppl on schreen then there will be lag here and there u cant escape it but the gameplay will be smooth.

siege with only 2gb ram tho(got 4 atm)

if you're going to invest in SLI or high-end pci-e cards, make sure you have a powersupply with adequate amperage on the +12 volt rails (at least 30A for a x1950xt). no point in spending 300-400 eggs on a video card that will blow your 600 watt psu cause you only have 22-24A.

i have p4 3.3, 8800GTS and usually 1gb ram, horrible with 1gb, smooth with 2 (same timings / speeds)

you did not set full detail in the movie you posted...in fact it's lowest detail for texture...well other than that, it's run smooth, hardly any lag, good movie nonetheless.

no kidding... 8800gtx is an expensive card.

it is quite foolish to offer a solution when we have very little information.

In my opinion, there is no way to tell him or her how to improve his FPS in sieges without properly knowing what his computer has in it. However, I will say that the biggest factor with this game would be a mix between GPU and RAM, followed by CPU. However, any weak component in this mix is really a bad thing to begin with, as most MMORPGs run equally intensive on everything.

just alittle :)

but her old system was getting thin...amd 2100/ati 8500le

my guess to get a good increase in fps for this game would be getting what ever the engine likes the most..doesn't the unreal engine really like cpu's.

I would say this is about correct but man its hard to say if you are lacking big in any of the 4 GPU CPU RAM or HDD, you will get a bottle neck and all will have reduced preformence.

But yes in importance I would say GPU, CPU, RAM and then HDD.

3.5ghz
4gb ram
Geforce 8xxx is the best for lagless sieges ;)

mine are :

- intel Dual Core 2 E6700
- 7582 MB of RAM
- Dual SLI 8800 GTS Graphics card
- Gigabyte S775, N680SLI-DQ6
- 120gb Harddrive

you are wrong too IMO ^^

TBH it all differs game to game, take supreme commander for eg, u cant run it single core no matter what vcard u have, =p

I've been through 10 different pcs for sieges

Currently Core 2 Duo 6420@ 3.2ghz, 1900xtx, 4gb of ram, runs exactly the same as my core 2 duo E6300 @ 3ghz with an 8800gtx at sieges, no matter what I do @ 1600x1200 i can't get a siege to run nicely

why? its also net lag in that case I M O ^^
