Im thinking about buying this pc :

Core2duo E6660 2.4 ghz processor
Intel Guardfish mainboard
4GB Kingston Memory.
320 Gbyte, 16MB ,Serial ATA Harddisk
Geforce 8800 GTS 640MB

1300 euros.

I want to be able to fraps and play big sieges without lag!
I'd like to know if this is a good buy~

u gonna make a good pc with a micro atx board ?

for "lag" free sieges u need what u got there and i would say a intel 956p mobo and some other ram that got d9 micron on em. Then oc the cpu to 3.2-3.6 ghz and oc the gfx to 6xx/20xx. U would allso want a raptor as main drive(for fraps writing) and a singel or 2 hd in raid0 as storage.

I belive you mean raid 1 for storage ? And Kingston isnt that OC friendly as others, try getting crucial ballistix for the memory and for harddrive Western Digital Caviar AAKS models are pretty good

no raid 0

u wont get the performance output of raid 0 from raid 1. My raid are faster in some aspects vs my raptor x where my raptor x rapes the raid 0 config in some other aspects. but i can move 40gb of space from my main to my storage in around 1 and a half minutte, unzip 4 gb in 2 minuttes, startup programs in a heartbeat and i can rape my raptor x with data while i play a game without noticeing it in the game = good for frapsing.

The pc its fine.

Micron d9 its for OC, random sticks are good for a normalm configuration.
If you want good solid ram on stock clocks go for ECC on a 975x MB chip will be good for video editing but its just an extra.
I have a similar configuration, CPU oced to 3.6, and 8800gtx oc stock, and fraps great, theres no lag due hardware, fraps runs great.

Lol at ECC ram, using ECC ram gives no benefit for normal pc users since it only decreases performance. http://wiki.extremeoverclocking.com/wiki/ECC_RAM
And abou the motherboards you might want to google for e6600 overclocking benchmarks to see what mobos do they use. I personally would go for p5b, but if you want 2nd gfx card later on you need to get one with sli support :P

The PC is fine but if you really wanna keep your bottle necking down get 2 Hard Drives and run them in RAID 0, of course if 1 fails you loose info on both but its the best performance. I am running EVGA 680i with Core 2 Duo 2.4 , 4 Gigs Corsair XMS2 PC6400, and started with 1 EVGA 8800 GTX and later went to 2 in SLI. I was running only 1 Hard Drive WD Raptor 150 and I was also using 250 storage. No RAID configuration. Even with these specs I was getting a huge bottle neck on the Hard Drives access time and not being able to pull info fast enough. so I sold the Raptor and got another 250 gig WD same model as the one I already have. I now run them in RAID 0 and it made a huge differance. I noticed the biggest bottle was for sure with the HD's.

i'd would suggest OC your CPU up to 3.4 ghz, 600/1000 GPU, and get at least 800 mhz memory...and raid 0 config would be nice but not really big factor if that makes too much trouble to make it...i bet you see much difference having a raid 0 and normal setup for harddrive.
