Sorry the whole Fark.com title didn't fit but here's the original lol
Just a week after dumping tons of CO2 in the atmosphere to promote not dumping CO2 into the atmosphere, Al Gore again shows his commitment to Mother Earth by serving a threatened species of fish at his daughter's wedding

Gore's life's mission, to write rules for everyone else.
Look close at our friend Al children, a perfect example of what not to be when you grow up.

The worst thing ever happened to this planet is to have Al Gore as the figure head for work against global warming.
Most Europeans, and I guess pretty much people all over the world, have accepted the fact that we need to do something about global warming because it was approached mainly from a scientific point of view. Scientists say that global warming is caused by human actions, etc. etc. etc.
It wasn't never really made a political issue.
Yet in the US, which atm is the biggest obstacle when it comes to global warming intervention, it has been made a political issue. So having a political person like Al Gore as the figure head is just dumb. It makes it look like that the whole debate is a political issue while the fact is that we're talking about hard science.
Also props to The Who (well the two guys still alive) who said that we aren't gonna safe the world by playing rock and we certainly aren't gonna save the world by having artists flown all over the globe with private jets.

I'm your biggest obstacle in saving the human race from being drown in melted ice caps. I changed every HE bulb in my house to the most inefficient bulbs on the market. What to do next.. Do you, by chance, wear a green spandex suit, rubber boots and a cape?

No I think "It's a good thing that I live in the largest inland city of the Nordic Countries"

Also, you should consider buying a pair of rubber boots yourself.
Majority of the scientists say that global warming is happening and it's caused by human actions.
The small minority that disagrees is saying that global warming is happening, but it's not caused by human actions.
Either way it goes, you're still gonna need those rubber boots.

Like I said in the other Global Warming thread, the truth is that God is making the world warmer cause he wants to get rid of all the gay people.

30 years from now, I'm going to laugh as your wrinkled ass starts riding on my nation for it's lack of effort to curb global cooling. Might wanna hold off on preparing for waterworld ;)

Lemme ask you a question, are you holding off on making a "Around the World" trip cause you think that in 500 years someone will realize that the world isn't round after all?

Oh yes, your sources state fact while mine state fiction. Mankind turning the world into a blazing inferno is very real. As real as the earth being round. My sources are the same that believe the world is flat, Fidel Castro is a singer, Europe is a city in Africa and George Bush is the reincarnation of Jesus. You see right through me sir. Bravo.

Could you pretty please, with sugar on the top, show me some scientists whose studies show that the planet Earth isn't getting warmer. I'm pretty sure you won't find any, because all the science that is needed is the ability to read a thermometer.
The little debate that is left in the scientific world over global warming is about the causes, not if it's actually happening.

was it 3 or 4 times the world froze over and melted before we even got here?
There is nothing we can do about it one way or another, nobody's fault and no blame need be placed. Why is that so hard to understand? Besides if it gets that warm we can double our carbon output and cloud the atmosphere, that will drop the temp just fine, science proves this. Now I need to drive my SUV to the gas station.

Well you kinda proved my point with that, the world gets colder and then it gets warmer. The ice age cycle. And at the moment, it's getting warmer so Claymore better buy that pair of rubber boots cause the water levels are gonna rise, like they've done several times before in the history of the planet.
Now the question is whether it will take the water level 50 years or 500 (or 5000) years to rise. And that's something that we can, at least according to the people who know about these things i.e. the scientists, control to at least some extent

Will I do what so many non-believers have already done on these forums and spit out more links to studies that contradict yours? No. It's not worth my time. Reread former global warming threads on off-topic. You'll find quite a few of them there, although they're all based on lies and corruption right? It's raining outside right now. I guess it's going to continue to rain outside unless I find a way to fight evaporation eh? You're saying it's obvious by the current temperature, but I assume you mean the trend. Once again, the trend of the 70's pointed to global cooling. A Jonne in bell-bottoms and shirt complete with butterfly collar would have been preaching the opposite to me back then. I'm not debating that the earth is getting warmer. I am debating it's primary cause. The bandwagonists I refer to are the ones who believe we, as people, are defeating mother nature.

Why do you keep referring to the 70's all the time? Yeah there was a short Global Cooling hypothesis in the 1970's, but it never had the backing of the scientific community.
And now, 30 years after, the scientific knowledge about the how the atmosphere works has increased exponentially. And it continues to increase. And the modern day Global Warming theory has the backing of the scientific community.
So yeah if you choose to believe the NotCircus type of "Human caused Global Warming is a hoax and a communist plot to take over the world" kind of bullshit, then fine you can believe whatever you want.
If you choose to ignore the years of study and research done by thousands of scientists all over the world, you're free to do that as well.

I never claimed it to be a hoax brought upon us by evil factions, all plotting to rule the world. I will, however compare it to an ostrich...
If you have a flock of ostriches together and one of them runs around bobbing it's head back and forth, the rest of the ostriches in that flock will follow suit. Before you know it, you have a bunch of ostriches all running around like retards while people on the outside of the bars point and laugh. That's all I'm saying....

Except that we aren't talking about birds with brains the size of a peanut.
We're talking about Ph.D:s, professors, researchers, scientists. People who've spend years and years of their lives studying how the climate works, people who use scientific methods in their work, people who use some of the most powerful computer systems in the world to run numerous simulations about the climate models, people who observe right down on a molecular level how CO2 effects radiation.
People who provide thousands of research papers on the subject, countless amounts of scientific evidence about global warming.
I do agree that all the masses of people bobbing their heads around in Live Earth concerts, watching as Jon Bon Jovi is "saving the planet" by playing a guitar and singing Livin' on a Prayer, are idiots who blindly follow the masses.
Just like are all the Hollywood "drive a Prius, save the world but fly around the globe with private jets" superstars.
But don't disrespect the hard working scientists who know about the subject a lot more than you, me, Al Gore and all the above mentioned idiots combined.

edit - nm might want to just skip my post as people have already stated what i said that they were stating. there you have it jonne

all these scientists are so prone to changing their toon it's not even funny. I don't care what side they are on. Look at the evolution of medicine, psychiatry, the upbringing of children.....all have gone through drastic changes in every possible direction over the years. I'm sorry but it's going to take a bit more to convince me that any of these people know what they are truly talking about. Only a scientist or doctor (or lib) can be so arrogant as to KNOW they are SO infallible.

I'm not disrespecting any supporting scientist of your beliefs anymore than you are disrespecting mine, so that doesn't really apply to this discussion. I am simply laughing at the masses who are panicking and spending their short time on this earth trying to find ways to save the human race (or in most cases just preaching but still living as they always have).

Scientists change their opinions on something if they find new evidence to counter the previous findings. Which is a part of the scientific process.
Scientists never claim that they know everything, they never claim that they are infallible, which is why for example the IPCC report says that it is "very likely" that the global warming is caused by human actions. With very likely defined as over 90% probability.
If anyone is making arrogant claims about global warming and pretending to be infallible, then it's the politicians not the scientists. And yes that includes politicians on both sides of the aisle
Also I wouldn't rank psychiatry and the upbringing of children under the same category with global warming and medicine, the first two are social sciences that deal with the way the human mind works, the other two are natural sciences.
But medicine does make an excellent example regarding global warming.
Let's say you're diagnosed with cancer by a doctor, actually make that multiple doctors since you decide to get multiple opinions, and they recommend a certain treatment.
Now do you go with what the doctor recommends, or do you think "oh maybe the doctor is wrong, I'll just wait for 10 years and see how it goes"?
I don't know about you, but I'd rather take the treatment.
So in the case of the global warming, the patient is planet Earth, the doctors are the scientists and the treatment is f.e. controlling CO2 emissions.
Now we can wait and see if the scientists are wrong, which is always a possibility in science, after all every one thought that Newton had things on a lock until Einstein came along, but I'd rather play it safe and take the treatment.
