There used to be a program for EQ that optimized EQ (believe it was like EQwin or something) that set priority for the program in windows etc and generaly optimized the game to run well.
This is only my second week in l2... but Im having some framerate issues that are a bit anoying.
MY system specs.
3.4 P4 with HT
2 gigs of dual channel ram
Radeon 9800 pro
120 gig Sata hd 7200rpm
IMO this system should have 0 problem running lineage 2 extremely well. However... In places like Necropolis of Sorrows, and other high texture areas I get major frame rate hits when I turn the camera etc. Witch is a royal pain in the ass when you pull 12 white and yellow mobs and are trying to get your butt back to the group before your hamburger.
With the relatively few options that the UI offers... is there anyway to increase FPS outside of this?

I'm not a puter nerd so I don't really have an answer. Although I have heard that there is just more "lag" in L2 then some of the other MMO's out there. Maybe I'm just used to it...I dunno. Doesn't seem bad to me at all anymore. Then again the PTS is coming soon for C4..*sigh*...you think the lag is bad now..LOL
Press Alt + P when you're about to fight 12 white and yellow mobs.
Only thing you can do is turn down your textures etc. Its in your Options menu. Turn off ground detail especially put textures on medium everything else on low. You can also try turning off sound. Some areas in L2 are just laggy no matter what you do. I think the game will load the next area when you reach a certain point "on the fly" causing it to lag. Also l2 isnt very good at releasing memory after you have traveled around the map. If I port a lot my game will sow down considerably. I often restart the game after I get to the hunting spot to make sure Im not carrying the entire sceneryfrom my way there in memory.

What i have found usefull when 2 boxing is to close explore ( windows shell ) just go into windows mode when using l2 ( Shft+ent ) then go to your task manage (ctrl+alt+del) then click on explore.exe and click end task.
explore uses alot of ur cpu usage.Only way to get it back to regular windows GUI is to restart the computer.

i can play WoW from my dorm connection lag free, even in high texture/player areas (like citys).
i can play l2 from my dorm connection with alot of lag, even in low texture areas
i think its l2, and not your connection/comp :)

:ef_wink: Ok, Run lineage 2 and alt-tab out, Alt-Ctrl-Del, processes, right-click on l2.exe, go down to set priority and set it as high or low as you wish

it's just a poorly coded game.
amd 64 3000+, 1gb corsair value select, radeon 9800pro(128mb) -- this sytem runs L2 fine. No lag when entering new areas. No AA, low AF, etc... Obviously, settings are turned down a bit for giran and other situations.
amd 64 3500+, 1gb corsair xms, nvidia 6800gt pci-e (256mb) -- this sytem lags when loading new areas. every time i go to DC i have to put up with lag.. as if the system struggles to load textures and polygons into the video memory. however, once things are loaded, fps shoots up and l2 runs super smooth. AA and AF on 4x+, settings on full, even in giran and sieges. however, that load lag (which only occurs in *some* areas) is a bitch, and i blame it on poor coding on ncsoft's part, or possibly nvidia, but more likely the former. the game just doesnt seem as optimized as it could be. but that's what you get when you try to convert a FPS engine to an MMO engine...\
oh, and both systems have gone through several formats, so i dont think it's lack of optimization on my part.

Ok friend, but what if one of the mobs is light red or -heaven forbid- dark red?

Not much you can do since most of the config files are encrypted and theres isnt a quick way to change them w/o modifying a ton lot other files. Also gameguard doesnt allow you to set process affinity too so >_>
