More than 400 scientists challenge claims by former Vice President Al Gore and the United Nations about the threat of man-made global warming, a new Senate minority report says.

The scientists — many of whom are current or former members of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that shares the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Mr. Gore for publicizing a climate crisis — cast doubt on the "scientific consensus" that man-made global warming imperils the planet.

"I find the Doomsday picture Al Gore is painting — a six-meter sea level rise, 15 times the IPCC number — entirely without merit," said Dutch atmospheric scientist Hendrik Tennekes, one of the researchers quoted in the report by Republican staff of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

"I protest vigorously the idea that the climate reacts like a home heating system to a changed setting of the thermostat: just turn the dial, and the desired temperature will soon be reached," Mr. Tennekes said in the report.

Sen. James M. Inhofe of Oklahoma, ranking Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee, said the report debunks Mr. Gore's claim that the "debate is over."

"The endless claims of a 'consensus' about man-made global warming grow less-and-less credible every day," he said.

After a quick review of the report, Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said 25 or 30 of the scientists may have received funding from Exxon Mobil Corp.

Exxon Mobil spokesman Gantt H. Walton dismissed the accusation, saying the company is concerned about climate-change issues and does not pay scientists to bash global-warming theories.

*Snip from the article*

This blockbuster Senate report lists the scientists by name, country of residence, and academic/institutional affiliation. It also features their own words, biographies, and weblinks to their peer reviewed studies and original source materials as gathered from public statements, various news outlets, and websites in 2007. This new “consensus busters” report is poised to redefine the debate.

Many of the scientists featured in this report consistently stated that numerous colleagues shared their views, but they will not speak out publicly for fear of retribution. Atmospheric scientist Dr. Nathan Paldor, Professor of Dynamical Meteorology and Physical Oceanography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, author of almost 70 peer-reviewed studies, explains how many of his fellow scientists have been intimidated.

Why do they never mention the fact that the sun grows in size and increases in temperature by about 10% every billion years. The damn sun is going to kill everything someday like it or not.
With all the things humans can create and control, some people just don't understand that there are some events that are out of our hands. During the periods of the greatest bio diversity and sheer size, occurred when CO2 levels on the planet were near the highest levels. Another thing to think about is the fact that most climatologists agree that the time period humans call ours has been unusually stable as far as planet climate goes. We have been on borrowed time since we came out of the trees.

Grass lands expanded when CO2 levels dropped because grasses need less
CO2 than trees. If you want to save the rain forrest's, don't cut them down, but above all,,,,,burn something.

Who cares about any of that.
The moon is rapidly moving away from earth, making earth spin faster, thus gravity and climate will be fucked up!

Oh boo hoo. Life sucks, get a fucking helmet.

NASA will tell you it's a possibility and give it like a 1 in 80 billion chance. Then they'll claim that that chance is something to be concerned about o.o

This must be the first article circus has read in a couple months that is against global warming. He was in a trend of making a topic about each article he found. Way to go, you found another one!

yeah yeah, I know......over 400 real scientists mean nothing to you, you'd rather listen to bureacrats in the UN and one crazy ex Vice president....to each his own I guess......keep living in your fantasy world that we are able to change the climate on earth.

It is funny that when those same 400 real scientist were for global warming they meant nothing to you. If you think we cant change the climate on earth, you are the one in a fantasy world. We could easily outright destroy the climate.

Oh great, yet another global warming thread. And right before Christmas.

I really really don't wanna get into this topic again cause it'll go down exactly the same way the dozen previous topics.

So I'll just say this:
If the science behind the claims of these scientists is sound and well researched, they'll publish their works in notable scientific publications. And if they do so and their research can withstand the scrutiny of other scientists, then good for them they've proven human caused global warming wrong.

However, unless this happens then it's all just hot air.

Oh wow, aren't you bright.
Yeah, why don't we throw a lasso around the moon and pull it back towards us...

Spend your money on it. Spend your time on it. Actually I'd prefer if you did.. But if you bother me, in any way, about whether or not I'm destroying the environment and that I should take responsebility for my actions, etc, blah, blah, blah <insert random gibberish about armageddon, ragnarok, doomsday>...go fuck yourself. As a side not, whether you like it or not; you can't change the fact that the moon is parting from earths orbit and that we're all gonna die.

Thank you, and good bye.

That was probably the most random post ever. Have I ever pushed either way on this subject? Do you even know where I stand on global warming? Hell even scientists who are actively studying this are lost on which way to go. Then we have the people here, like you, who know for sure, but have never left their house to prove to the scientists who spend years studying this what is true and what isnt. With all your knowledge on this I dont know why there is still a global debate on global warming.

I hate to break it to you, but you are going to die before the moon does anything to life on earth. You seem to not understand this.

You want a random post? Well here you go.
You're from California! What the fuck makes you think I care about a global warming discussion with you? Bunch of fucking stupid clown snobs.
Don't eat meat. Save the whales. Wear pink.
What the fuck, you, fuckin, scrubs..

you are the one in a fantasy world. We could easily outright destroy the climate. I hate to break it down to you, but there's nothing we can do. That's what I've been saying.

Goldshlager: But how do you know, boo hoo!
Ikaros: Well, because the moon is slightly pullng away from earth's orbit, that's what.
Goldsahlger: Oh yeah? And what makes you say that, asshole?.. And, and... the way we treat the environment now we're screwed way sooner than the moon ever could!
Ikaros: Oh yeah? And what makes you say that, asshole?..
Goldsahlger: Because... Because... I don't have to explain myself to you because you are a dumb cunt.
Ikaros: Wow, fascinating! You really did a number on me, kid. Now go eat/drink your vegetable-soup.

I wonder if his period cycle is the same as his moms would be if she was alive. I guess he could call her and ask to find out.

And again we got top scientists ikarosffs knowing what can and cant be done. Should nominate him for a nobel piece prize so he can be the next al gore. People again would be like who the fuck is he to say what is going on.
